Unique Challenges for University of Iowa Employees

Working at the University of Iowa comes with expectations that can feel relentless. Professors balance research, teaching loads, student needs, and grant deadlines. Administrative teams keep a massive institution running and often absorb high volumes of requests with limited support. Hospital-affiliated employees work in emotionally intense environments where long hours and compassion fatigue are common. Even general university staff face pressure to maintain strong performance in a fast-moving academic setting.

If opioids or alcohol are part of your struggle, Medication Assisted Treatment can reduce cravings, stabilize brain chemistry, and allow you to focus on long-term recovery.

Treatment for Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

Many employees at University of Iowa face challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, or work-related stress. Our clinicians are trained in dual-diagnosis care, ensuring you receive integrated treatment that addresses both substance use and mental health together.

Family and Support Involvement

Recovery is easier when your support system understands the process. We offer education for loved ones, optional family involvement, and guidance to help repair relationships impacted by addiction. You are not doing this alone.

Aftercare and Work-Reentry Planning

Returning to work after treatment can be a major milestone. We help you build a personalized plan that supports your transition back into daily life, including relapse-prevention tools, community programming, outpatient referrals, peer support groups, and strategies for maintaining balance in the workplace.
